a.r.p（アルプ）という名前は、私たちのセレクトの基準となる
authentic（誠実・信頼）——
radical（革新・挑戦）——
を包括するprodacts（製品）という言葉の頭文字をとって名付けました。
プロダクトを起点にして、二つの視点の対比と重なりを感じて頂けましたら幸いです。
The name a.r.p is derived from the initials of
authentic — sincerity and trust — and
radical — innovation and challenge —
brought together through the word products, which lies at the core of our selection criteria.
By placing products at the starting point,
we hope you will sense both the contrast and the overlap between these two perspectives.
Philosophy
——昔からモノを集めるのが好きでした
一目見た途端、心奪われ手元に置いておきたいと思うこともあれば、
モノにまつわるストーリーから心が動かされることもありました。
それらは、ミッドセンチュリーのモダンファニチャーだったり、誰しもの日常に溶け込んでいるけどよく考えられた日用品だったり、時には、とある国・部族の民芸品だったりもします。
軸となるのは、工法や製造過程といった内包された美しさから「誠実につくられている」と感じさせてくれるモノたちであり、
一方で、そしてプロダクトを取り巻く背景やストーリーまで含めて、「革新的であり、挑戦的な姿勢」が人の心をときめかす何かを備えている。
不思議とそんなモノたちは、どんなアイテムと合わせてもしっくりと馴染む自由さも持っている気がします。
—I have always been drawn to collecting objects.
Sometimes it is love at first sight—an immediate urge to keep something close. Other times, it is the story behind an object that leaves a lasting impression.
The objects I am drawn to range from mid-century modern furniture, to quietly well-designed everyday tools, and occasionally, folk crafts from specific regions or cultures.
At their core, they share a sense of honesty—an inherent beauty rooted in craftsmanship and process. At the same time, when viewed through their broader context and story, they embody a spirit of innovation and challenge that resonates emotionally. Perhaps because of this balance, these objects possess a natural versatility, blending effortlessly with whatever surrounds them.
